10 FOOD THAT MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT

I was reading a magazine that I purchase at church it’s called “UNBOUND” and I have read an article which I think I should share to all of you about diet. Well if you want to order the magazine online you can visit

http://www.crossroad77.com

Here it is;

1. YOGURT – Contains CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). CLA, simply put, is fat that fights fat and yogurt is one of the few foods that have it. It even lowers cholesterol and triglycerides.

2. GREEN TEA – Green Tea lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and increases HDL (good cholesterol) levels in your body. The antioxidant polyphenol contained in Green Tea also help prevent certain forms of cancer. The best part is that it makes you look good by increasing calorie and fat metabolism. Green Tea extract is a vital ingredient in most of today’s thermogenic supplements or fat burners.

3. All-natural No-sugar Peanut Butter – This one has monounsaturated fat (the fat that’s actually good for you) vitamin E, and protein. It may be high in calorie but since it’s a good muscle-builder, it can efficiently fight fat.

4. EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL – If you can use this to create your meals, you’re in for some good fat since olive oil is abundant in monounsaturated fat and vitamin E. It helps burn fat, fights heart disease and lowers blood pressure.

5. WHOLE-GRAIN BREADS AND CEREALS – These are abundant in complex carbs and fiber which make you feel a lot fuller than you really are so. It controls your cravings and in turn, makes you eat less. It also keeps insulin levels low and helps keep your body from storing fat. Good sources include brown rice, whole wheat pasta, and whole wheat bread. Please don’t eat white bread unless you think that it is whole grain.

6. OATMEAL – Oatmeal is the perfect energy source in the morning because it contains a lot of complex carbs which have a sustained release effect meaning, it slowly releases the carbs into your bloodstream in order to be used as energy throughout the day. Oatmeal also contains a lot of fiber – the body’s bouncer. It helps clean our system of those pesky things like LDL cholesterol. Plus, it makes you feel fuller for a longer time in order to control your cravings throughout the day. Try downing a bowl of oatmeal every morning!

7. BEANS – Beans contains a lot of protein, fiber, iron, and virtually no fat! It helps control our craving and it also regulates our digestion. Just make sure not to eat too much unless you want to stink up your surroundings with the gastrointestinal distress associated with too much bean consumption. Also avoid the baked and fried variety of beans since these are high in sugar and fat due to the ingredients used to get them into that state.

8. WATER – Yes water! Water transports all nutrients throughout our bodies and also flushes out toxins. Sometimes, our bodies trick us into believing that we’re hungry when the reality is that we’re simply thirsty or dehydrated. Try drinking a glass of water 15 minutes before a meal and see if you can eat as much.

9. MCT’s (Medium Chain Triglycerides) – Naturally found in coconut oil and some other food, it is also available in supplemental form and can be purchased at your local nutrition store. Research suggests that MCT’s bypass the normal digestive process and are immediately converted into energy by the liver. Plus, it has a thermogenic (fat-burning) effect on our bodies. However, check with your physician before supplementing with MCT’s as some research show that it is not recommended for individuals with diabetes or who suffer from high cholesterol levels.

10. GREEN VEGETABLES – Vegetable like broccoli are rich in fiber and again, help fight fat and keeps us feeling fuller. Most of them are actually rich in antioxidants like Vitamins A, C and K that help fight those nasty free radicals that keep us down by attacking our cells. These food are good for you as long as you don’t fry them or smother them in sauce that only add worthless calorie to their already sound nutritional value.

SCHOOL HUNTING

The past few days have been very busy for me, work and lots of work. My daughter has just finished kinder II (Preparatory Classes) with flying colors and she is now going to another level which is primary (Grade I). Her previous school La Consolacion College is quite a big school with lots of facilities but there is something lacking or you’re looking for another thing that would make your daughter advanced with the rest of the world and that’s when we decided to go school hunting.

First school is Sacred Heart Academy which is very near SM Fairview and Robinsons, it’s near my workplace. It’s a beautiful school with a big gym and lot of trees. There are lots of rooms that are big enough for a whole class. You could actually visit their website at

http://www.shan.edu.ph

My daughter took the exam which lasted for 1 hour and then came the interview of the assistant principal which she also passed. So we were brief on the result of her exam and interview in which we were given a permit to enroll.

Days had passed and my wife told me that we should try Saint Anthony. So they went to that school and schedule her for exam. Actually it’s my dream school for my daughter when she was still at her mother’s womb but the tuition fee is very high at that time in which I’m working for a minimum salary. Her uncle Owen actually went to that school which I should say molded him to one of the brightest and intelligent student of this generation. My wife told me about the place that it’s very big and beautiful.

Second school is Saint Anthony which is also near my workplace. It’s a big school with lots of facilities which I should say worth the penny, they have a swimming pool and they have an English campaign which is very strict that would make your daughter learn to speak that language. You could visit their website at

http://schoolofsaintanthony.edu.ph

We accompanied my daughter to the school to take the exam which lasted for 4 hours starting from 8am to 12pm. This is her first exam that lasted for 4 hrs. After the exam I thought we will know the result but we need to go back on Tuesday for her interview. They did go back and she passed it, the results of her exam are all above average. She was given a permit to enroll.

It’s very inspiring to see your daughter excel in a lot of things now I understand why my parents did their best so we could study to some of the best schools, the tuition fee might be very expensive but if you would see your daughter achieve a lot of things then you should work for it. I would end with a quote from Derek Bok, President of Harvard University.

IF YOU THINK EDUCATION IS EXPENSIVE, TRY IGNORANCE.

WEDDING

How do you like your wedding to be? Of course if one would imagine, you like it to be one of the most memorable and worth attending to.

My cousin Wilma and her hubby Elly was married last March 18 at Sanctuario de San Jose in Greenhills. I should say it was one of the best weddings and most organized that I’ve attended so far. My daughter was one of the flower girls and as proud parent we would like her to see in her gown. We don’t have any picture to show because we forgot to buy a battery for the digital camera (we will show it later once we got a copy). We were almost late but thank God were not. As the flower girls were marching I saw my little girl with the most beautiful hair (mahaba at shiny parang, rejoice), as if it was yesterday that my daughter was a baby and now she is one of the most beautiful girl. Let’s go back to the wedding, on the ceremonial wedding my brother Raydon was one of the groomsman (kaya nagpa-haircut sa Reyes Salon). The couple say their I do’s and now comes the picture taking, it was fun watching because the photographers are very good it’s like watching an Ad photo shot. The reception was held in Dusit Hotel Nikko one of the five star hotel in Makati. The ambience was great, it started with the parade of the couple together with their sponsors. Next are the speeches of the bestman, bridesmaid and their parents. Of course eating time comes and there are lot of foods and dessert to eat. There is a string quartet playing making it very relaxing, my stomach was full with all the rare food. There was also a media show of Elly and Wilma with all their pictures when they are still single until they are engage. Uncle Rico also rendered a song entitled “Magpakailanaman” with the string quartet playing. The last part was the dance of the father and bride in which the father will give her daughter to the groom, it’s like a movie. We were all in awe, Mama, Raydon, Ann, Deanne, Liza and me. It was very organized from the very start to the end. I kind of envy them for their wedding, so I promise my wife that on our renewal of vows we will have a wedding as beautiful and organize like theirs. Congratulations to the couple.
