DISCOURAGEMENTS & DISAPPOINTMENTS

When you think of those words, what is the very first thing that comes into your mind? Failure and more failures, possibly because as uncle Webster’s dictionary says discouragements is losing of one’s confidence and disappointment is failing to fulfill the expectations, so what’s the meaning for you? A question that you yourself know it.

I’ve experience a lot of things in this world that you may say its good or bad, but this are the ones that makes me stronger and run the race of life.

The past few weeks have been kind of disappointing to me in the sense that I focus on something else that is destroying the whole of me and my family. I keep on asking the question why in the world I am experiencing this. Have I done something wrong or I didn’t push myself that hard to reach the position that I want to be. I even come to a point that I blame God for it, but that shouldn’t be. An illustration about the different planets and earth shows that our home planet earth is still big compares to Mercury, Venus and Mars, what if you put in Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus. Earth would look like a very small period, then you put in Sun definitely it’s the biggest of all, who is much bigger than the sun, GOD of course. “Don’t tell GOD how big your problems are. In fact tell your problems how big GOD is”.

What to do with disappointment

a. Don’t retaliate

b. Don’t rehearse it

c. Don’t nurse it

d. Let God reverse it.

The problem with us is that when we experience failures is that we give up soon.

  • Lesson is simple: WE GIVE UP SOON

Sometimes we give up soon not knowingly that we are already near the finish line. One illustration is when Moses and the Israelites are in the dessert and are very thirsty with no water to drink, they started turning against God, and they did not see what God had done to save them. They found a place where there is water but the water is very salty, once again they started cursing GOD. They give up soon, five miles after that a beautiful place is waiting where there are lot of springs and palms where they can drink fresh water.

  • The Answer: JUST KEEP GOING

When failures and disappointments would make you give up, “please don’t”, you can take a rest and reflect but don’t quit, just keep on going.

I would end with this beautiful poem.

DON'T QUIT
by Edgar A. Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
when the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile but you have to sigh,
when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must,
but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about when he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow - you may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man;
often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup;
and he learned too late when the night came down,
how close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out - the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
and when you never can tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems afar;
so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - it's when things seem worst,
you must not quit.

SOMETHING TO START WITH

I was watching TV last night together with my wife and we kind a watch Pipol at channel 2, it’s a program where they show different lives of people. It’s hosted by Ces Drilon, their topic was “Ang Bagong Henerasyon” and it struck me of how young people are very active in terms of work, the things they do and so on. One of them is Ala Paredes the daughter of Jim Paredes (Apo Hiking Society) she is very young and had achieved a lot but sad to say they would migrate to Australia. She said that there is a purpose for it, and needed some time to see other things aside from the Philippines. She was frustrated of what is happening to our country. Sometimes you need to go to another country to appreciate the beauty of the Philippines.

Before I sleep I gave time to reflect and look at my daughter. She is very young still at kinder 2, very intelligent (of course “mana” sa tatay) and beautiful. Hoping someday she would achieve the things that I didn’t. But there is still time to do a lot of things and one of them is this, blogging as they say, sharing my thoughts to different people. I may not be a good writer but this is something to start with.
